Representation is a way to give certain meanings to media, which can influence the audience and create stereotypes. The movie Frozen was seen to be given a lot of hate because the media portrayed it as a very unsatisfying movie with an annoying song that everyone keeps singing. The media was unsatisfied because of the number of people continuously singing the catchiest song in the film, which causes an earworm. The media also gave the point that the movie would have been a lot better if Elsa was the villain and not Hans, which made the audience start disliking the movie because of that one little detail that the media put out there. Another thing that the media put out is that Frozen is like the icy version of the movie tangled. That made everyone give even more hate to the movie because of those details that were pointed out by Disney watchers. On the other hand, some parts of the media tried to point out that the movie is about the importance of sisterhood and takes the audience through an emotional journey, but because of all the hate that side of Frozen is unseen by the rest of the audience.

"The Crossing" Discussion Post   10-22-2020      The filming used a lot of cinematic languages to give the viewer a feel of suspense and fear while watching it. During the opening cut of the film, there is a widescreen view of a woman entering a subway and calling someone. The scene then cuts to a close side-view of the woman, where we see her apologizing to someone, which would give the viewer suspense as to why she is apologizing and heading towards the subway. Then there is the scene where the camera shifts to different views of the woman walking in the subway hallway, possibly causing even more suspense in the viewer. As she walks in the hallway, she passes a creepy looking image on the wall. Then we see a close-up view of a man kicking his legs on the ground. Then we see a wide-view of the woman looking at his legs suddenly seem to "drop dead" and get dragged away behind a corner. This scene might cause the viewer to feel fear of the sudden mysterious movement

Do you agree with Zizek's view on viewing media text or Hall's view on interpreting media text? Use S.E.E to respond! Zizek's View  Hall's View Zizek's says that media texts controls us and that we have no control of the actions we take as a result of watching said media text.  Dominant, Oppositional, Negotiated Readings   In some ways, I do agree with Zizek's point of view on media texts when he says that the media texts control our thoughts and actions. I do agree with the fact that media can change our thoughts and actions, but I believe that it is up to the viewer whether or not we want to act upon what we see in the media texts. I also agree with Hall's views on media texts with the types of readings a person could have. Any person could either have a dominant, oppositional, or negotiated understanding of a certain media text. This would link back to Zizek's view, depending on the type of reading a person has on a piece of media, it would influence
